Taex opens permanent gallery in Mareterra with Kevin Abosch solo show

Taex, an international contemporary art gallery dedicated to digital and conceptual art, has opened its first permanent exhibition space in Monaco’s new Mareterra waterfront district. Located at Le Renzo, the space was inaugurated on 9th October with Testing Ground, a solo show by Paris-based conceptual artist Kevin Abosch.

“Having supported arts and culture in Monaco for many years, I am especially proud to open TAEX Gallery here,” said Inna Bazhenova, founder of TAEX. “Monaco has long been a place where cultural ambition and international perspectives meet, and our permanent space in Mareterra marks a new chapter in our commitment to the cultural life of the Principality.”

Synthetic photography and artificial landscapes

For its opening exhibition, Testing Ground, Taex presents new, unseen works from Abosch’s latest series of synthetic photography created specifically for the Monaco space. Rather than capturing existing physical landscapes, Abosch uses computational processes to generate images of industrial sites that mimic traditional photography while depicting places that do not exist geographically.

The show also includes pieces from Ethical Work, a generative series exploring authorship, visual truth, and machine intelligence first presented at Paris Photo in 2025, alongside Abosch’s famous Potato #345 (2010)—an edition from the series that sold to a private collector for over €1 million.

Beyond Abosch: Expanding Monaco’s digital art scene

For over three decades, Abosch’s practice has examined identity, value, and image-making across traditional photography, installation, moving image, and generative technology. Beyond Abosch, Taex’s arrival strengthens Monaco’s connection to world-renowned performance and digital art pioneers, building on the gallery’s previous collaborations in the Principality with artists such as Marina Abramović.

“Our ambition is to make Taex Monaco a vibrant cultural destination, a place for discovery, exchange, and creative dialogue,” said Stefanie De Regel, Director of Taex Monaco. “Against the exceptional backdrop of Mareterra, we want to bring together art and culture in their many expressions, fostering new encounters within Monaco’s cultural landscape.”
