Sixteen young players from the Fédération Monégasque de Rugby visited the SPA de Monaco on Monday 26th October, combining an introduction to animal welfare with a donation to support the refuge’s efforts.
The federation presented the shelter with a motorised wheelbarrow in the presence of Gareth Wittstock and Thierry Danthez, vice-president of the Fédération Monégasque de Rugby.
The equipment will serve as a support for staff in transporting litter and carrying out improvements to the spaces used for walking dogs, providing practical assistance with the upkeep of the refuge.
Alongside the donation, the young players in attendance toured the facilities and had the opportunity to meet animals in the refuge’s care. The visit was designed to raise awareness of animal protection while passing on values of solidarity through an experience away from the pitch.
For the players, the morning offered the chance to discover the work of the refuge. For the SPA staff, the donation will support the physical labour involved in maintaining the animals’ surroundings.
