Ever the fashion jetsetter, Charlotte Casiraghi has once again popped up on a red carpet in a look provided countless column inches for society papers everywhere. On November 4, Princess Caroline’s daughter stepped out to attend the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art+Film Gala honouring Mark Bradford and George Lucas. The benefit was presented by Gucci alongside guests such as Jane Fonda, Kim Kardashian, Salma Hayek, Naomi Campbell and Leonardo DiCaprio, who has co-chaired the awards show for seven consecutive years.

Wearing a dress from the Italian fashion house’s Spring Summer 2018 collection, whose show Charlotte attended back in September, the 31-year-old mother of one was radiant in a multicolour silk gown in shades of pale rose, champagne, light lavender and turquoise embroidered with crystals that sparkled with every paparazzi flash.

Also present was new boyfriend, film producer and son of French actress and model Carole Bouquet, Dimitri Rassam, whom she was finally officially photographed with much to the relief of gossip columnists that have closely followed the story.

Tickets for the 2017 Art+Film Gala started at €4,300 ($5,000), and proceeds will, in part, help make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming.

Former Nigeria international defender Michael Emenalo is said to be under consideration for Technical Director at AS Monaco after leaving the same role at Chelsea, where he has been in the job for ten years.

Reports in France indicate that the 52-year-old is a target for Monaco who are looking to bring in an experienced technical staff following the departure of key players this summer.

Emenalo has been a key cog in the Chelsea machine under Roman Abramovich but has seen his role increasingly under pressure in an internal power struggle between Marina Granovskaia, a key Abramovich confidante, and manager Antonio Conte, the UK’s Independent daily reports.

Emenalo is widely regarded as the brain behind Chelsea signing the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Thibaut Courtois, among others.

Although the move to Monaco is not set to be imminent, there have been reports that their interest in his services made him quit his role at Chelsea earlier than when he would have preferred.

Armed robberies down precipitously in France

IMG_3326 (1)A huge drop in armed robberies is providing welcome respite for French law enforcement.

The National Observatory of Crime and Criminal Responses reported on Wednesday, November 8, that the number of robberies committed with a firearm has fallen dramatically since 2009.

A study by the National Observatory of Delinquency and Criminal Responses (ONDRP) is the source of the figures. Documents provided by the Central Office for Combating Organised Crime (OCLCO) reveal that the number of robberies committed by means of a firearm, particularly against commercial targets, collapsed nearly 60 percent since 2009, the equivalent of about 4,000 fewer victims.

Armed robberies overall have fallen, but the main beneficiaries are tobacconists, petrol stations and other retail outlets.

Criminologists have suggested that the fall in armed robberies is in part explained by the cashless society and the use of debit cards.

Jewellers have also benefited, with a drop in armed robberies from 359 in 2011 to just 45 in 2016. Heightened and more sophisticated security measures have also helped, the experts say. They cite the marking of cash and merchandise, more CCTV and SMS alerts as further reasons for the drop.
