Tourism and Congress Department partners with Brazilian electronic waste collection

Lixo Electrico

The Tourism and Convention Authority has partnered with the city of Sao Paolo and the Brazilian Greenk movement to install 15 e-waste bins in large public parks.

The objective of this campaign is to raise awareness among the Brazilian public about the collection of electronic waste and to increase people’s commitment to recycling.

The results of the first quarter already confirm the success of the operation – more than three tons of recovered electronic waste, the equivalent of more than eight million real (€ 1.7 million), a reduction of 935kg of Co² and an energy saving estimated at 9.403 KW/h.

This project gives Monaco the opportunity to prove its commitment to a more responsible future.

The Greenk movement was born of a civic association and is a contraction of Geek & Green. It aims to engage a technology-loving public to mobilize for the environment (setting up collectors, conferences, trade shows).

Monaco football club owner sues Sotheby’s for $380 million

Monaco FC

AS Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev has sued Sotheby’s in New York for $380m (€329m), accusing the auction house of assisting in a fraud.

The Russian billionaire says Sotheby’s helped a Swiss art dealer defraud him, according to a report by AFP.

Rybolovlev bought 38 art masterpieces over a decade, spending more than €1.82bn, later accusing seller Yves Bouvier of inflating prices. He says Sotheby’s assisted Bouvier by over-valuing paintings.

“Mr Rybolovlev’s latest desperate lawsuit is entirely without merit,” Sotheby’s said in a statement.

“We will be moving to dismiss the action in New York and at the same time we will continue to pursue our case through the Swiss courts. Sotheby’s had no insight into what Bouvier did with the pieces that he bought.”

The case continues.

On Wednesday, October 3, Marc Monnet, Artistic Advisor, presented the 2019 program in the presence of HRH Princess of Hanover, President of the Festival, Patrice Cellario, Ministerial Advisor Interior and Jean-Charles Curau, Secretary General of the Festival and Director of Cultural Affairs.

Focusing on two musical genres, the Concerto and the String Quartet, this 35th edition will also give pride of place to the piano by plunging without limits into the repertoire of the instrument.

The festival will offer a tribute to two figures of the 20th century – Mauricio Kagel and Karlheinz Stockhausen. For the closing concert, he will open his borders to Mongolian crosstalk vocals, which means to produce two sounds simultaneously.

Meetings with the artists and a surprise trip will punctuate the varied program.
