VistaJet partners with Mauro Colagreco for exclusive in-flight Michelin-star dining

VistaJet has announced an exciting new partnership with three-Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, bringing the acclaimed flavours of his renowned restaurant, Mirazur, to the skies.

Unveiled at an exclusive press lunch at Mirazur during the recent Monaco Yacht Show, VistaJet’s latest partnership with three-Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco brings a selection of curated menus that capture the flavours of the French Riviera, elevating in-flight dining to new levels of sophistication.

As part of its ongoing effort to enhance the passenger experience, VistaJet has increasingly collaborated with top culinary talents. The partnership with Colagreco’s Mirazur marks the latest addition, offering passengers a taste of one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants, whether in the air or at their destination.

“Our goal is to create a journey so seamless and luxurious that you never want to leave,” said VistaJet’s Global Chief Marketing Officer, Matteo Atti.

Perfecting the art and science of dining at high altitude

For over 20 years, VistaJet has fine-tuned every aspect of in-flight comfort, and with Colagreco’s influence, the company is pushing the boundaries of in-flight dining. The new menu features three exclusive à la carte options, including the first plant-based offering and a picnic selection ideal for summer travel.

“We’ve been on a journey to transform private dining in the air, making it something truly memorable,” said Diego Sabino, Vice President of Private Dining at VistaJet. “We’ve explored the art and science of dining at high altitude, crafting dishes that our members can savor together onboard, whatever the occasion.”

As Matteo Atti explained, the challenge was to recreate a Michelin-starred dining experience at 40,000 feet. “Our staff is extensively trained to deliver a high-quality dining experience that feels as close as possible to a professional kitchen, even in the skies,” he said.

The chefs at Mirazur, meanwhile, spent considerable time developing a menu that could be prepared by non-chefs at high altitudes, while still adhering to the restaurant’s commitment to fresh, seasonal ingredients. “We focused on creating dishes that work well on a plane but remain true to our core values,” explained Chef Paloma Boitier. “For example, in my favourite dish – the lamb chop with lamb shoulder ravioli – we use every part of the animal. We make sure nothing goes to waste, even in the skies.”

Weeks of preparation go into each menu, ensuring that flavours are preserved despite the limitations of space and altitude, where taste and salt preferences may change. “We meticulously test everything, including the exact timing required to heat each item in the plane’s ovens—since open flames aren’t allowed onboard. That’s how we can maintain the aromas and flavours of the dishes, specifically tailored for VistaJet,” added Diego Sabino.

Mirazur is now one of over 7,000 VistaJet suppliers across more than 2,000 airports, including Monaco’s Beefbar and Tosca di Angelo at the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, allowing passengers to fully customise their meals in advance. “Once you book a flight, you receive a link to choose from a selection of meal providers,” said Atti. “If you don’t make a selection 48 hours before the flight, our private dining team will propose options based on your previous preferences, always ensuring multiple meal options on board in case you change your mind.”

Tailored menus for top-tier passengers, including pet-friendly options

VistaJet’s collaboration also includes a nutritionist service for top-tier members. This feature, designed for passengers flying over 50 hours per year, tailors menus to individual dietary needs, allergies, or health goals. “Whether it’s for athletes or CEOs heading to important meetings, we ensure passengers feel their best when they arrive,” noted Atti. VistaJet even offers specially curated menus for pets, recognising the importance of making long flights comfortable for every member of the family.

The partnership between VistaJet and Mauro Colagreco marks a significant step in enhancing the private aviation experience, merging world-class cuisine with luxury travel.

Basketball: Roca Team rise to top of the EuroLeague with win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv

With two back-to-back wins in high-scoring games, AS Monaco Basket is pulling ahead in the EuroLeague rankings. Following their victory over Maccabi Tel-Aviv, the Roca Team has taken first place in the standings.

The Roca Team’s second EuroLeague game of the season, a fixture that saw the Monaco side face Maccabi Tel-Aviv at the Salle Gaston Médecin on Wednesday 9th October, was both tough and challenging. However, the team was clearly energised and motivated to maintain their unbeaten record since the opener against Olimpia Milano.

The game was hard-fought, with the two teams neck and neck throughout the first half. By half-time, the Roca Boys were trailing by a single point, but they stormed back in the final two quarters to win 85-79.

“We expected a difficult game, like all EuroLeague games,” said Coach Sasa Obradovic. “The team didn’t play its best, but the important thing is the victory. The first half was tough, but after the break, we improved. It takes time for players returning from injuries, as some lack rhythm. We’ll work on the details in the coming days, but we showed some good things.”

The top scorers of the game were Mike James and Elie Okobo, with 17 points each. Donatas Motiejunas also had a strong game, contributing 11 points to the final tally.

The win puts the team ahead of their second-placed EuroLeague rivals, Crvena Zvezda.

The Roca Team will be back in action on Saturday 12th October for a Betclic Elite game against Stade Rochelais at home in Monaco.

Record-breaking heat and emissions push Earth into ‘unpredictable new phase’

The 2024 State of the Climate report has issued a stark warning about the growing severity of the climate crisis, with scientists stating that many of Earth’s “vital signs” have hit record extremes. Senior climate experts say “the future of humanity hangs in the balance” as rising greenhouse gas emissions, population growth, and record-breaking temperatures push the planet into a critical new phase.

The latest State of the Climate report, published in BioScience, paints an alarming picture of the planet’s current environmental trajectory. According to the report, “we are on the brink of an irreversible climate disaster,” as described by lead authors William J. Ripple and Christopher Wolf. This global emergency is “beyond any doubt,” with human activities continuing to drive catastrophic changes in key planetary systems.

Many of Earth’s “vital signs” have reached record extremes, indicating a “critical and unpredictable new phase of the climate crisis,” the report states. Of the 35 vital signs assessed in 2023, 25 have deteriorated to unprecedented levels, including carbon dioxide concentrations and human population growth. The human population is increasing by approximately 200,000 people per day, and livestock populations, such as cattle and sheep, are growing by 170,000 per day—both of which contribute to the record levels of greenhouse gas emissions fuelling climate change.

The report further highlights that Earth’s surface and ocean temperatures have hit an all-time high, driven by the relentless burning of fossil fuels. According to the authors, “the three hottest days ever occurred in July 2024,” with ongoing emissions likely to push temperature records even higher in the years to come. Global sea surface temperatures were far above their historical averages in 2023, particularly in the North Atlantic, a trend expected to continue.

The growing concern among scientists is not limited to environmental degradation alone. The report reveals that an increasing number of experts are now investigating the possibility of societal collapse as a consequence of the climate crisis. With natural systems faltering and humanity’s collective actions exacerbating the situation, “the future of humanity hangs in the balance,” warn the authors. Without swift and decisive action to reduce emissions and curb global warming, the risks to global stability will only worsen.

Despite repeated warnings, the world continues to move in the wrong direction, with fossil fuel emissions hitting an all-time high in 2023. The report stresses the need for immediate action to phase out fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy sources. However, as the authors conclude, “we are currently failing to avoid serious impacts” and can only hope to limit the extent of the damage as we enter this perilous new phase of the climate crisis.

Monaco hosts Assises de la cybersécurité, announces new cybersecurity for health sector

The 24th edition of the Assises de la cybersécurité has officially opened in Monaco, with an inaugural address by Didier Guillaume, Monaco’s Minister of State, calling for collective efforts to confront the increasing challenges posed by cyber threats.

More than 3,300 attendees and 180 digital security partners, including 21 startups, have gathered for the three-day event.

In his opening speech on Wednesday 9th October, Didier Guillaume spoke of the importance of collective action in combatting cyber threats. “In a world where cyberattacks are growing exponentially, no nation or sector can face these challenges alone,” he said.

Guillaume noted the rise of ransomware attacks and the increasing complexity of global cybercriminal networks, stating, “The evolution of international relations has led to the consolidation of influence blocs, including state and non-state actors, criminals, and hackers.”

He pointed to Monaco’s commitment to cybersecurity through the ratification of the Budapest Convention and its support for the United Nations’ new Convention on Cybercrime, calling the latter “another step forward” in global cooperation.

Monaco, he added, has made cybersecurity a strategic priority, with legislation in place since 2016 to protect the Principality’s critical infrastructures and personal data. “We have expanded our regulatory framework to apply security rules to new sectors of activity,” said Guillaume, referencing the adoption of European standards to strengthen Monaco’s defenses.

He also outlined plans to further develop the successful Fonds bleu initiative, launched in 2020, to support the digital transformation of businesses. The next phase will focus on healthcare, with funding dedicated to cybersecurity audits and securing sensitive data. “This initiative has already helped make Monaco’s economic ecosystem more resilient and modern,” Guillaume said.

In closing, Guillaume urged participants to work together, saying, “The key to success in facing the cyberthreat is in the collective. It’s through our coordinated efforts that we will achieve a safer cyberspace.”
