Prince Albert will address the undergraduate commencement ceremony at Thomas Jefferson University on Wednesday, May 9, at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre.
On the same day, Prince Albert and Jamie Siminoff, CEO and chief inventor at Ring, the video doorbell company designed to enhance home security, will each receive the honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters.
This spring marks the first commencement ceremonies since Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University merged on July 1, 2017.
Prince Albert has ties to Pennsylvania as his mother, actress Grace Kelly, grew up in the East Falls neighbourhood just blocks from the University.
The house, built in 1935 by Prince Albert’s grandfather John B. Kelly, was where Prince Albert’s father, Prince Rainier, proposed to then actress Grace Kelly, the Prince said that the refurbished 6-bedroom brick colonial mansion at 3901 Henry Avenue could open sooner.
The sovereign bought the house in the fall of 2016 after it had been on the open market for several months.
In addition to being a museum open for special events, the building will house regional offices of the Princess Grace Foundation and a US extension of Monaco’s Princess Grace Irish Library.
