The Princely Family has released its official Christmas card for 2025, and this year Princess Charlene’s beloved chihuahua, Harley, makes an appearance in the family portrait.
The carefully composed photograph, taken within the palace, shows the family arranged around an ornate blue velvet sofa against a backdrop of festive elegance. Prince Albert II stands behind the sofa in a navy suit, with Hereditary Prince Jacques beside him, also in navy, whilst Princess Charlène sits regally in a pleated grey dress with a bronze belt. Princess Gabriella, wearing a soft pink embroidered dress with silver shoes, sits next to her mother.
Harley steals the show
Between the two princesses sits Harley, the tiny chihuahua gazing serenely into the distance with surprising composure. The little dog’s calm demeanour is a testament to photographer Vanessa von Zitzewitz’s skill in capturing the perfect moment – no small feat when coordinating a shot involving two energetic soon-to-be 11-year-olds and a small dog.
The setting showcases classic palace grandeur with a decidedly blue theme running throughout. A roaring fire burns in an impressive fireplace framed by an ornate carved marble mantelpiece, adorned with a garland dotted with blue and bronze ornaments. To the right, a Christmas tree decorated in coordinating blue and rusty-coloured baubles completes the festive scene, whilst gilded artwork and classical sculptures add to the palatial atmosphere.

A more personal approach to tradition
The inclusion of Harley adds a distinctly personal and relaxed touch to this year’s photograph, marking a return to the warmth of the 2019 card which also featured one of Princess Charlene’s beloved chihuahuas. The Princess is known for her deep love of animals.
According to the Palace, “the Princely Family is pleased to share the greeting card” with the people of Monaco and well-wishers around the world. The announcement was made in multiple languages, including French, Monégasque, English and Italian.
The twins, who turn 11 on 10th December, have grown increasingly visible in public life, attending National Day celebrations, sporting events and official engagements alongside their parents.
Von Zitzewitz, a German-born photographer who has lived in Monaco for 30 years, has become the trusted portrait artist for the Princely Family. She has photographed distinguished personalities including Pharrell Williams, Mick Jagger and Michael Schumacher, and her work has been exhibited at major art fairs including Paris Photo and Art Basel.
