Book your tickets: AMLA Gala to transport guests to mystical Bolivia

The Association Monegasque for Latin America is hosting its annual gala at the Yacht Club of Monaco in September and it will be a spectacular showcase of everything that exotic Bolivia has to offer.

The Association Monegasque for Latin America (AMLA) is teaming up with No Finish Line International for a big night that the organisers are calling two nights in one. The Mystical Bolivia Gala 2022, being held at the Yacht Club of Monaco on 17th September, is introducing Bolivia to attendees whilst also introducing the exporting of No Finish Line Monaco to the South American country.

The night will be filled with authentic experiences involving renowned chefs, artists, musicians, cinema stars and fashion designers to show all the wonders Bolivia has to offer.

The gala will start with a welcome gathering on the Sunset Deck starting at 7pm where guests can enjoy watching chefs cook live, cocktails, painting, an art auction, traditional dance performances, a tombola, and music by Bebe Aponte. Additionally, No Finish Line’s first ever event in the cosmopolitan Bolivian hub of Santa Cruz will be introduced with 2023 being the inaugural year.

At 8:30pm, the crowd moves to the Gala Fusion Dinner Party where the two organisations will make short presentations and show a video about Bolivia followed by introductions to the chefs, a fashion show by Ropsita Hurtado, Deanna Canedo Patiño, Las Diablas and Miss Bolivia 2021 Nahemi Uequin, and guitar music by Piral Vaca. The awards ceremony and announcement of tombola winners comes next with Bolivian actor and singer Milton Cortez performing live as well as the ancestral dance show by ACF. The jam-packed night will continue into the wee hours with music and dancing with Bonny Lovy and Matamba.

The Mystical Bolivia Gala will benefit the Public Women’s Hospital in Santa Cruz as well as efforts being made to diagnose congenital chagas in newborns from infected mothers. The disease is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, which is transmitted to animals and people by insects and is found only in the Americas, mainly in rural areas of Latin America where poverty is widespread. If left untreated, chagas can be deadly.

 AMLA is a non-governmental humanitarian organisation based in the Principality. Its main goal is to build a community where members and any interested parties can build alliances and explore synergistic ideas.

Aside from the gala, they also organise workshops, conferences and musical shows that boast “authentic entertainment, state of the art production and exquisite occupancy”.

Save lives and have fun at Trott ‘n’ Roll

This year’s Trott ‘n’ Roll charity event will benefit not only children fighting for their lives but will also honour Monaco’s firefighters in a family-friendly day of outdoor pursuits, including bouncy castles, a skate park and even a parade with motorbikes where kids can join and get a ride!

The Flavien Foundation is back with their biggest event of the year. Trott ‘n’ Roll, under the slogan ‘Together, let’s save lives’, will ask the people of Monaco to join them in a day of activities and fun to raise funds and awareness to fight paediatric cancer.

The full day runs from 9am to 6pm on Saturday 17th September at the Jardins d’Apolline and Allée Sauvaigo in Monaco and will feature inflatable structures to play on, a skate park, Star Wars light sabre action, rides for kids on a motorbike parade through the streets of the Principality with a Rebel Riders Monaco Motorcycle Club, Appaloosa Riders or Indian Motorcycle Club member, and demonstrations of first aid methods that could save someone’s life.

Electric bikes from Lenny’s E-Moto will also be on hand as well as Ephemeral Tattoos, who offer real tattoos without a life-long commitment.

Additionally, there will be refreshments so that when hunger strikes, there will be no need to leave the fun.

The raffle will have amazing prizes and tickets will be on sale from 14th September at the shopping centre in Fontvieille, as well as on site the day of the event.

Fondation Flavien has been around since 2014 and was created after the untimely passing of eight-year-old Flavien, a local boy who suffered from brain cancer. In its history, it has collected €743,000 for paediatric cancer research and treatments.

 

 

 

Come one and all to the Market Ball

The Monaco Mairie has organised an end of summer event the Place des Armes, filled with music, dance and of course, culinary delights from the Condamine Market.

The Principality is putting on a bash to end the season in style. Called The Market Ball (Le Bal du Marché), the organisers are touting it as an event “In the rural style with a guinguette atmosphere”, welcoming the public to come and join in the festivities.

A guinguette was a popular 18th century term for drinking establishments in the suburbs of Paris and of other cities in France. Guinguettes would also serve as restaurants and often as dance venues. The origin of the term comes from guinguet, indicating a local sour, light white wine.

In Monaco, it will be more like a celebration, with large open seating tables made available to the public, giving them a chance to meet, eat, dance and have a glass or two.

The traders of the Condamine Market will be open for business serving up delicious fare, and additional stands outside will help keep lines to a minimum.

Benty Brothers Music will perform live, so dancing will also be on the menu.

The Market Ball takes place on Friday 9th September. Food and drinks will be served from 7pm and the music starts at 7:30pm. Entry is free of charge but guests are encouraged to come early as there are no reservations and seating will fill up fast.

‘Son of Monaco’ celebrates 50 years on the stage

Monaco-born Richard Lord is marking 50 years of music-making, as well as his 75th birthday, with a live concert at the Opéra Garnier in September.

Richard Cavassuto, born in Monaco in 1947, was destined to become a musician. At the age of 12, for the children’s Christmas gift-giving at the Palace in 1959, the young Cavassuto was given a guitar by Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, a present that would shape his future.

He was a fixture in several rock bands in the early 1960s, including as drummer for The Vampires, Bassist for The Yankees and The Ombres, as well as leader vocalist and bass player for The Outlaws.

In 1971, after recording sessions at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London, Richard Cavassuto became Richard Lord and made his debut as a solo artist, releasing the single ‘Everybody Loves a First Time’.

Abbey Road, the studios made famous by the Beatles, was clearly an inspiration for Lord, who returned to Monaco in 1983 to perform a show comprised of 15 Beatles songs, called Abbey Road Sixties, which he performed in front of Prince Rainier III. The music of the sixties has been the backbone of his career, with tribute concerts being regular occurrences.

Over the years, he has played several times in Monaco, and organised events such as the 1999 concert bringing together six bands from the 1960s who performed at the Sporting, and a 2005 concert where newly coronated Prince Albert II joined the band playing the drums. Additionally, he sang a ballad called Jacques and Gabriella at the baptism of the twins in 2015 in front of 400 assembled guests.

Enjoy the last days of Mada Lounge

Jardins des Boulingrins near Casino Square has been hosting the Mada Lounge pop-up bar since the start of July. Now, it is in its last days, so get out and enjoy an al fresco drink under the stars before it ends with the summer breeze.

Mada One’s summertime pop-up, nestled in the Jardins des Boulingrins, has been a hit since it first started serving refreshing cocktails on 1st July. Now, the lounge is wrapping up the season, with the last day set for Sunday 28th August, so guests have a few last chances to enjoy the beautiful setting with an unparalleled view onto the Casino de Monte Carlo.

The Mada Lounge has made a name for itself not only for the beverages served, but also for the cool vibe set to the backdrop of live music or DJs.

For its last week, the performances will be by Pab Emsen or London Harlem accompanied by live music and a DJ on Wednesday evening. Thursday features a local DJ and Friday evening chilled out musician Sylow Music will play for the crowd. The summer at Mada Lounge winds up Saturday and Sunday with more live music.

The lounge is open from 4pm to 10pm. No reservations are required.

‘Munegu Family’ return en masse

Following two years of absence, the ‘Munegu Family’ has made its long-awaited return, filling their allocation during the first two home games of the season.

First during last week’s premier leg against PSV Eindhoven, and then during last weekend’s draw against Rennes, nearly 1,000 fans packed the Seconde B to support Philippe Clement’s men.

What is the ‘Munegu Family?’

The ‘Munegu Family’ allows an adult and a child to attend all of AS Monaco’s Ligue 1 home matches for just €450.

In a specially dedicated stand, the Seconde B, fans of the Principality club are treated to a range of activities, supplementing the on-pitch excitement. From a magic show to make-up stands and the chance to meet the club mascot, Bouba, there is something for everyone.

For Monaco’s previous two encounters, the stand has been full, welcoming almost 1,000 fans and places for this Saturday’s encounter against RC Lens are still available.

The return of the ‘Munegu Family’ after two years of absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic is welcome, and is now supplemented by a range of other campaigns made to encourage matchday attendance.

As well as providing a family-friendly way in which to watch the matches, other campaigns such as the ‘MuneGo’ car-sharing app also facilitate travel to both home and away games. Combined, the campaigns allow fans to get closer to the team that they love.

For Olga Dementeva, assistant Director General, the aim of the scheme is clear. “The will of the President is to reinforce the links between the club and its local supporters, by allowing children access to the stadium. The objective of the ‘Munegu Family’ is to offer a privileged environment to families, in order to give them the desire to come as often as possible to encourage the team at the stadium.”

The success of the scheme thus far is undeniable, and the hope is that fans continue to benefit from this memorable, unique experience throughout the entire Ligue 1 season.
