The Monaco Mairie is organising several special events at the Monte-Carlo Market over the coming weeks, including a Spanish-themed lunch featuring delicious food and drinks.
Spend a day in Spain without leaving the Principality on 24th September when the Town Hall of Monaco invites the public to the Monte-Carlo Market for a day of food and fun.
In addition to the already wonderful selection of traders on site, there will be exhibitors offering specialities such as paella, sangria and a multitude of other Iberian products. The food will be available for take-away from 11am, and for those who prefer to relax and eat on-site, meals will be served from 12pm.
Other upcoming market events include the Forager’s Market (Marché des Cueilleurs) coming on 8th October, when mushrooms and chestnuts will be on offer, as well at a Regional Wine and Cheese Market coming on 22nd October.
Access to the market is free and the day runs from 8am until 2pm.
The Casino Café de Paris came alive on Thursday night with a gravity-defying pianist and a dazzling display of entertainment as loyalty customers were invited to Fall in Love (again) with Monte-Carlo.
If there is one thing Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer knows how to do well, it is throw a party, and that’s exactly what it did for members of the My Monte-Carlo loyalty programme on Thursday 16th September.
“The purpose behind tonight is to bond with the clients again,” Daniel Lovazzani, Chef de département Exploitation Appareils Automatiques, told Monaco Life. “In 2018 and 2019 there were two evenings of this kind… Winter Chic and La Dolce Vita. But we had to stop because of the pandemic. So, everybody was craving another evening like this.”
In keeping with its Great Art of Gaming philosophy, SBM organised a Roaring Twenties evening with eclectic entertainment, free-flowing champagne, surprises, gifts and games.
“We have the best customers in the world here, we have high rollers, we have the best slot machines in the world with jackpots of over one million euros,” said Lovazzani.
The evening was designed to reward loyal customers who live in Monaco and the surrounding region.
Fourteen artists covered in diamonds distributed “nuggets” to customers, two of which were pure gold. Human paintings by Frida Kahlo, Arcimboldo, and Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer wandered among guests. There was also a musical show choreographed in red and black, while “photorazzi” captured guests on the red carpet.
Tickets for the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival were also distributed during the evening.
The My Monte-Carlo loyalty program has nearly 91,000 members and is open to customers of casinos and all Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer establishments. It includes participation in exceptional evenings, such as this, as well as other privileges.

Princess Grace Theatre announces 2022-23 season line-up
The Princess Grace Theatre’s new season opens in October with a huge schedule of exciting events, including a performance by French singer Vanessa Paradis.
The Princess Grace Theatre has unveiled its calendar with over 32 performances, including such timeless classics as comedies by Oscar Wilde with The Importance of Being Ernest and Shakespeare’s As You Like It, as well as star turns with Charlotte Rampling lecturing on Shakespeare-Bach and Mom by Samuel Benchetrit with Vanessa Paradis, and film events such as the one featuring Orson Welles as Falstaff, amongst the many highlights.
The jam-packed schedule certainly has many familiar titles, but also a number of new creations to discover written by up and comers on the scene, which are sure to become instant classics in their own rights, such as Friendly Advice with Christian Vadim, Marie Fugain and Manuel Gelin, and an immersive concert set to the George Orwell book 1984.
“We are a stage open to everyone, especially to quality,” said Françoise Gamerdinger, Director of the Princess Grace Theatre. “It’s a literary season with its share of comedy, which will arouse curiosity. I believe it is a season that will make us laugh, cry and above all think. These are all precisely the missions of the theatre.”
One can’t-miss event is the opening night, 5th October, when Francis Huster, alone on stage, evokes one of France’s most celebrated writers in Molière, an event marking the 400th anniversary of his birth.
The theatre is taking pocketbooks into account this season, capping out ticket prices at €38 for known shows and €28 for the new offerings, making them accessible to everyone. This is part of a push to get people back in the habit of going to the theatre after the pandemic years. Additionally, they are trying out new things to attract audiences.
“The public has evolved in recent years,” said Gamerdinger. “This year, we are introducing two new features. First, the shows start at 8pm instead of 8:30pm. This allows you to get out of work quietly and come to the show straight away. And for a drink before, we have set up a catering point, which was missing, in the bar-foyer.”

How to get involved in the beach clean-up organised for Èze
Saturday is World Clean-Up Day and to celebrate, The Animal Fund is asking people to join them in tidying up the beach in Èze, gathering plastic waste that would otherwise find its way into the sea.
The Animal Fund (TAF) is a non-profit marine conservation association registered in France, Monaco, the United Kingdom, and Denmark that focuses on protecting the ocean as well as saving dolphins and whales from pollution, overfishing and maltreatment.
In honour of World Clean-Up Day, the organisation is hosting a beach clean-up in Èze alongside Blue Coast Brewery, Fonds Bleu Diving and the Village of Èze, to get rid of the rubbish and plastic waste littering the coastline and endangering marine life.
Participants will be provided with gloves and trash bags for the work part of the event, while educational quizzes, refreshments and entertainment will also be organised. The clean-up will be all the more poignant by knowing that millions of other people all over the planet will be doing the exact same thing at the exact same time, and together a difference will be made.
TAF’s work is highly education-based, and to get the word out, they collaborate with 55 schools and 12 universities on awareness programmes and events. Among TAF’s numerous campaigns, their primary one is to stop the use of single-use plastics, replacing them with sustainable alternatives. Additionally, they advocate the change of consumer habits by consuming less plastic in general.
In 2022 alone, they have spearheaded a multitude of conferences, clean-up operations, talks, workshops, and exhibitions.
The 2022 European Heritage Day is looking forward rather than back this year with the very modern theme of Sustainable Heritage, and Monaco has designated 49 sites for people to visit, enjoy and learn from.
European Heritage Day, celebrated in the Principality on 25th September, is part of a bigger picture event celebrating Europe’s cultural diversity. Now, in keeping with the times, they have added an environmental aspect to the proceedings, in line with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The idea is to look at people as well as places, learn good practices from traditions, and to come up with ways that organisers and visitors can be more environmentally friendly.
The programme is jam-packed with amazing locations and interesting experiences in and around Monaco. Some are not usually open to the public, and so it gives people a chance to take a peek into a world not normally at their disposal.
Some of the highlights include the Cathedral of Monaco, the apartments of the Prince’s Palace, a trip to the forts of Monaco, the National Archives, the Princess Grace Library, the Minister of State’s residence, the workshops of the Ballets de Monte Carlo, and much more.
Especially for the day, parking rates are set at €4 at the following car parks: Jardin Exotique, Condamine, Pêcheurs, Stade Louis II, Boulingrins, Grimaldi Forum and La Colle.
The Beaulieu Classic Festival is celebrating two decades of musical artistry and entertainment, and this year’s line-up is filled with amazing talent in beautiful settings, with the added promise of it being: “Classical…But not only!”
This year’s musical programme for the 20th Beaulieu Classic Festival is set to be unlike other events of this kind, with free concerts, a gala dinner and candlelight performances.
According to the organisers, “Being a festival among many others would not satisfy our public accustomed to the prestigious concerts of the Operas of Monaco or Nice. We had to be different with an atypical program composed of musicians selected for their artistic qualities and their original personalities.”
It kicks off on 10th September in the Place Marinoni with pianist Steve-Villa Massone playing to the crowds, followed by a parade of local schoolchildren accompanied by musicians on stilts around the village. That evening at 9pm, a free concert on the Petite Afrique Beach will take place with the National Orchestra of Cannes playing works by Mozart and Haydn, followed at 10:15pm by a fireworks display.
On the 11th, Jean-François Zygel, improvisational pianist and composer, will be at the Casino de Beaulieu at 6:30pm giving audiences a chance to hear his off-beat and off-the-cuff style.
On Tuesday 13th September is award-winning string quartet Quatuor Van Kuijk, who has graced major concert halls around the globe and will be playing in the intimate setting of the lovely Saint Michael’s Chruch.
Next up on Wednesday the 14th are Les Itinerantes, a three-woman a capella sensation, who will be performing during a candlelit concert at Saint Michael’s Church at 8pm, adding an air of mystery and glamour to the event.
Trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin-Vary and accordionist Félicien Brut happily share the stage for the next concert on the 15th at the Casino de Beaulieu at 8pm. The pair perform a heady mix from musette ball to opera, from jazz to romantic masterpieces, in a something-for-everyone evening.
Friday the 16th is the Gala Dinner at the Royal Riviera Hotel for the 20th anniversary with a Roaring Twenties themed night. The dinner show will feature Gaby the Magnificent in a “jazzy musical comedy” combining theatre, singing, and dancing in one fabulous show. There will also be a semi-gastronomic dinner in keeping with theme from Le Jasmin Restaurant.
The Festival concludes on Saturday 17th September with the piano playing duo of Mathias and Julien Cadez, who use a single piano and play side-by-side to amazing effect. The pair combine music, humour and magic in a can’t miss spectacle reminiscent of the great Charlie Chaplin himself.
