In keeping with its ‘Life is an art’ concept, Monte-Carlo SBM will stage La Vita Monte-Carlo in September with a month-long programme that covers all of life’s pleasures.
The luxurious Monte-Carlo lifestyle would not be possible without experiences such as drinking or lunching on a terrace, strolling along the seafront, listening to a concert, shopping, enjoying incredible encounters or basking in the thrill of the game.
So, from mid-September to mid-November, La Vita Monte-Carlo will host unique events at various SBM resorts.
It all kicks off on 10th September with the La Vita Monte-Carlo Gala Dinner in the Salle Empire at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. The next day will see the Monte-Carlo Vendanges with three unmissable wine-themed encounters hosted by the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. La Vita Monte-Carlo will light up autumn in the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Group establishments until 10th November with various exciting events.
La Vita Monte-Carlo: exclusive ‘Candlelight’ evening at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
The Salle Empire will be the opening scene for La Vita Monte-Carlo, hosting a candlelit gala dinner with a unique floral backdrop on 10th September at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. During this special dinner, coordinated by Chef Franck Cerutti and his teams, La Vita Monte-Carlo will shine the spotlight on Monte-Carlo savoir-vivre and three talented young female artists: young Monegasque prodigy, pianist Stella Almondo, who, at just 15, will entertain with the classic notes of Chopin which will unfold into Jazz. She’ll then hand over the reins to the young DJ Irène Drésel, a rising star on the new French electronic scene, who will lift the mood with a hypnotic set before returning to close the evening with one last performance. Finally, singer Elodie Frégé’s beautiful and captivating voice will ring out around the Salle Empire during this spectacular evening.
La Vita Monte-Carlo: vendanges at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

Picasso to Koons: Jewellery by Artists
A unique display of fine jewellery created by world-famous artists and passionately collected by Diane Venet is being exhibited at the Grimaldi Forum from Sunday 11th July.
Diane Venet, wife of artist Bernar Venet, began her unique collection of jewellery made by artists in 1967 when she purchased a brooch created by painter Roy Lichtenstein in New York. Her collection began in earnest though after meeting her husband in 1985, when she decided to dedicate all her purchases to commissions from artists.
For over 30 years, she has amassed an extraordinary selection of more than 230 pieces made exclusively by artists, 180 of which will be presented at the Grimaldi Forum.
Well-known artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jeff Koons, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Keith Haring and Roy Lichtenstein all created pieces either bought or made for Venet’s collection.
“These creations are always the result of an encounter, whether with the artists themselves or with other collectors,” says Venet. “Both groups have encouraged me. They have given me no small amount of support in my discovery of this new world where art, seemingly at play, surpasses itself.”
Diane Venet came from a family of art collectors and her father, Jacques Segard, was chairman of the Friends of the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris. She met and married Bernar Venet in the mid-1980’s in New York, where she helped him organise his exhibits and became an avid collector of art herself.
Her idea for exhibiting her jewellery came in 2008, when it received such acclaim that she took her show on the road presenting at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Benaki Museum in Athens, Miami’s Bass Museum, and the Seoul Art Centre in South Korea, to name a few.
Picasso to Koons: Jewellery by Artists will run from 11th July to 19th August at the Grimaldi Forum.
Creative classes for kids at the Grimaldi Forum
Searching for something fun for the kids to do during summer break? Take a look at these Giacometti-themed youth workshops coming up at the Grimaldi Forum.
From 12th to 23rd July, the Grimaldi Forum will be hosting a series of creative summer workshops for children aged seven to 11, teaching the art of making art using the Alberto Giacometti exposition as inspiration.
Themes change each day of the week and include some amazing offerings such as model drawing, where children use a classmate as a model and try their hand at sketching them in different poses, as well as portrait drawing, where participants work from a painted portrait of Anette and reproduce the sketch using black pen before shading in the surfaces with dry pastels.
Other offerings see kids getting their hands dirty whilst having fun creating a Giacometti-style bust from a block of clay, or reproducing a Giacometti Walking Man sculpture using a metal wire frame encased in clay, a favourite method of the artist.
Finally, kids can create still life drawings, replicating an apple as true to life as possible using shadow play and volumes with dry pastels.
Whilst on-site, children and parents will also be able to enjoy the Giacometti exhibition currently underway highlighting 230 works from the artist that include sculpture, paintings, prints and drawings accompanied by photos.
The classes run Monday through Friday from 10am to 12pm, or from 2pm to 4pm, with a maximum of 20 students per workshop. For reservations and more information, call the Grimaldi Forum ticket office at +377 99 99 30 00.

Monaco is getting into the “swing” of summer
To mark the official start of summer on 21st June, SBM launched its hugely successful ‘Swing Monte-Carlo’ with a programme that combines shows, unique events, ideas for day trips and experiences at SBM resorts.
This year’s theme is ‘Marvellous Gardens’ and the second edition was launched on a beautiful summer’s night around the Place du Casino on Monday. Boutiques on the Promenade Monte-Carlo, a stylish open-air shopping area, stayed open all hours for the occasion, while the Hôtel de Paris hosted a series of ‘Escapes’ including wine tasting from the hotel’s cellars and massages by Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo.
The highlights of Swing Monte-Carlo 2021 are the Festival of the Sea on 23rd June and the opening of Mada Lounge from the 24th, the summer pop-up venue of Mada One in Place du Casino gardens. Every Thursday until 28th August, Mada Lounge will offer musical nights from 4pm to 10.30pm in a chic Bohemian atmosphere amidst Place du Casino gardens and overlooking the legendary Casino de Monte-Carlo.
Meanwhile, the boutiques on Promenade Monte-Carlo are dressing up in ephemeral decorations for the ‘Marvellous Gardens’ theme, with shop windows and pop-up terraces sporting the colours of Swing Monte-Carlo.
For those wishing to get away from it all, SBM is proposing “ways to escape” from breakfast to dinner around variousthemes. ‘Gourmet’ day, for example, starts with breakfast at the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo, the mythical brasserie and hub of Monegasque life for 150 years, followed by window shopping on Promenade Monte-Carlo, lunch at Elsa restaurant at Monte-Carlo Beach, and, to kick the night off, an aperitif at the Blue Gin bar at the Monte-Carlo Hotel & Resort. But a gourmet day wouldn’t be complete without a dinner in Monaco’s most prestigious restaurant, the three Michelin starred Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris.
‘Swing Monte-Carlo’ was launched last summer after the first phase of the pandemic as a symbol of renewal and in reference to the hedonistic ‘Swinging 60s’ of London.
